BABES IN ARMS

Book by Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart;
Music by Richard Rodgers;
Lyrics by Lorenz Hart.

“My Funny Valentine.” “The Lady is a Tramp.” “Johnny One Note.” All of these songs originated in the granddaddy of all “Hey kids, let’s put on a show” musicals from 1937. See what transpired with Hart turned to Rodgers with the idea to write a topical and politically charged show starring kids.

With a live orchestra!

Never been to a staged reading? Here's what to expect:

No sets, no costumes, minimal props, minimal choreography. The full script and score are performed by actors holding scripts and a small orchestra. Each production has only 25 hours of rehearsal. Think about it. Just the actors, the musicians and your imagination. It's a magical evening of theatre and a chance for Musical Theatre West to bring you some of Broadway's forgotten gems, undiscovered treasures and shows that deserve a second look.

Directed by Michael Betts
Choreographed by Daniel A. Smith
Musical Direction by David Catalan

Produced by David Lamoureux and Michael Betts as part of Musical Theatre West's Reiner Reading Series
